Obituary Earl 'Joe' Wayne Spears, age 68, of the Big Hill Community in Pennington Gap, VA, went to his heavenly home Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA. Joe was born July 29, 1951 in Lee County to the late Ora Lee and Vergie Vermillion Spears. Joe was a retired Westmorland Coalminer and truck driver. He enjoyed his family, grandkids and his farming. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church families. Joe is preceded in death by his parents Ora and Vergie Spears; his brothers Kelly Spears, Foster Spears, Billy Spears and Gene Spears; sisters Charlene Brewer and Oma Davis; two infant brothers. Joe is survived by his wife, Phyllis Spears of the home; two sons Billy Spears and Patty of Nashville, IN, Jason Spears and Deanna of Pennington Gap, VA; two daughters Kay Taylor and husband Jeff of Salem, IN, Kellie Gullett and husband Ray of Tazewell, TN; three brothers Jack Spears and wife Betty of Pennington Gap, VA, Cairol Spears and Tammy of Pennington Gap, VA, Bruce Spears and wife Linda of Apple Valley, CA; one sister Nellie Hoke of Pekin, IN; grandchildren Corey, Joey, Krystal, Jamie, Ben, Michael, Whitney, Matthew, Brock, Camden; 12 great-grandchildren, dear to the family Michael Willis, many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of many friends. Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bob Grider and John Britton officiating. Graveside will follow at the Spears Family Cemetery on Big Hill, in Pennington Gap, VA.
