Dovie Juanita Penley age 85 of Pennington Gap, VA was born Tuesday, May 5, 1931 in Lee County, VA and passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA. She had been a homemaker and a member of the Robbins Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Buford Lindbergh Penley, one son Stanley Penley, her parents Silven and Virgie Rutherford, one brother Keith Rutherford, one sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Darvin "Manford" Penley and a daughter-in-law Cathy Penley. Dovie is survived by two sons Wayne Penley of Pennington Gap, VA and Kerry Penley of Dryden, VA; one daughter Norma Penley Rich and husband, Jeff of Pennington Gap, VA; four grandsons Jeremy Penley of Big Stone Gap, VA, Ryne Penley and Austin Penley both of Pennington Gap, VA and Billy Penley of Keokee, VA, one granddaughter Cissy Penley of Keokee, VA and a daughter-in-law Charlene Penley of Keokee, VA. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Pastor Pete Perdue officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Visitation for Mrs. Penley will be from 1:00 PM Thursday until the time of the service.
