Dorothy Carroll, 76, of Jonesville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born on October 10, 1947 in Jonesville, Virginia to the late Mack and Mary Elizabeth Shackleford Moore. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Dorothy was a member of Lone Branch Baptist Church.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Carroll; daughter, Sherry Lynn Carroll; sisters, Trula Moore and Alice Harrell; brothers, Jerry Moore and Edward Moore.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law Terry G. Carroll and Lisa Burchett, son Alan Carroll, daughter and son-in-law Charlinda D. Dingus and Kenneth Dingus; six grandchildren, Autumn Seals and husband, Weston Seals, Zowie Carroll, Raelyn Lewis, Summer Stidham and husband Hunter Stidham, Kendal Dingus and Makayla Dingus; three great-grandchildren, Avella Breann Seal, Winry Seal, and Kayden Matthew Bates; brother, Glenn Moore; sisters, Linda Collins, Maggie Musick, and Stella Carroll; special niece and nephew, Abby Ely, Carter Ely, and Crystal Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Powell Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Thomas Rogers and Pastor Cliff Ely officiating.

A committal service will follow the funeral service at Moore Cemetery in Jonesville. Pallbearers will be Kenny Dingus, Kendal Dingus, Terry Carroll, Jesse Moore, Hunter Stidham, and Carter Ely.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Caris Hospice as well as her sister, Linda Collins, whom never left her side and was her caregiver.
