Donnie "Sarge" Lynn Ely, 64, of Pennington Gap, VA, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his residence.

Donnie was born on Monday, May 23rd, 1960 in Dryden, Virginia. He worked as a welder for several years.

Donnie was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ruth Ely; grandparents, Phillip and Allie Harless and George and Hazel Ely; and brother, Gary Ely.

He enjoyed working on his old 1955 Chevrolet and lawnmowers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Harold W. Ely; brother, David (Michelle) Ely; Also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Mark Tabor officiating.

A committal service will follow at Ely Family Cemetery in the Dry Branch Community. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
