Della Mae Barnette, age 82 of Dryden, VA was born in Hillsville, VA on Monday, February 26, 1934 and passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in Big Stone Gap, VA. She was a homemaker and loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She also attended the St. Charles Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Ray Barnette; her parents, William and Emmer Fritz; three brothers, Clarence, Arthur and Ray Fritz; two grandchildren, Joseph Paul and Shasta Barnette; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Dustin Wilder; a daughter-in-law, Ann Barnette and one whom she thought of as a daughter-in-law, Joann Eldridge. Della is survived by four sons, Gary Barnette of Jonesville, VA; Billy Barnette and wife Karen of Stickletville, VA; Lonnie Barnette of Jonesville, VA and Steve Barnette and wife Ashley also of Jonesville, VA; five daughters, Barbara Hughes and husband Charlie of Woodway, VA; Debbie Woodard and husband Jon of Dryden, VA; Lora Roop and husband Barry of Jonesville, VA; Donna Sweeney and husband Stevie(Sheep) of Jonesville, VA and Tammy Robbins and husband Mike of Kingsport, TN. 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Ruby Meredith and husband Hughie of Woodville, VA and Frankie Rhoton and husband Ezra of Stickleyville, VA. Also many nieces, nephews and a host of friends A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Roy Webb officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Monday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the the Barnette Family Cemetery in Stickleyville, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
