David Wayne "Precious" Sweeney, 61, of Jonesville went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Lee County Community Hospital.

David was born on July 10, 1962 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. He worked all his life as a logger working all over the surrounding areas. Precious was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Johnson and Berdie Sweeney; seven brothers, Gene Mullins, Earl Mullins, Harold Mullins, Henry Mullins, Bill Mullins, Dennis Sweeney, Danny "Groundhog" Sweeney,

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca Sweeney; Children, Toni Rae Sweeney, David Daniel Sweeney, Amber Nicole Sweeney, and Whitney Elaine Sweeney; daughter in-law, Taylor Nicole Sweeney; brothers, Tony "Dog" Mullins, Steve "Sheep" Sweeney all of Jonesville, VA, Jerry Sweeney of Woodway, VA and Howard Sweeney of North Carolina; one sister, Judy Cody of Jonesville, VA; along nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Powell Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Steve Neff officiating. Misti Neff will offer special music.

A committal service will follow at Russell Cemetery on the Graham farm with Pastor Steve Neff officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
