David Earl “Moon” Mullins, 78, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.
David worked as a coal miner for many years and enjoyed listening to oldies music. Throughout his life, he experienced both joys and hardships, leaving behind memories that were unique to each person who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dude and Ruth Mullins, and his sister, Linda Wyatt.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Mullins Floyd; his children, Becky Mullins, Mark Mullins (Lana), Angela Rosenbaum, and Frank Mullins; his grandchildren, Brandon Mullins, Brittany Mullins, Marah (Mullins) Culbertson, Macey Mullins, Izabell Talley, and Alexis Brown; his great-grandchildren, Izaia, Audrina, Annalise, Lyric, River, Indie, Adaline, Sam, and Lane; his sisters, Kay, Theresa, and Judy; as well as many extended family members and friends.
David shared a special bond with his granddaughter, Brittany. More than a grandfather, he was her person, her safe place, and one of her best friends. She remained faithfully by his side throughout his final days, never leaving his journey and ensuring he was surrounded by love and compassion until the very end. Their bond was one of unwavering love, and his memory will forever live in her heart
The family will welcome friends at Pennington Gap Funeral Home on Thursday evening (July 9, 2026) from 6pm until 7pm at which time a brief service will be held by Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. Private burial will take place in the Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA
