Obituary David "Huey" Hughes December 29, 1962-March 2, 2023 David Hughes, age 60, of Pennington Gap, VA passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. David retired from Lee County Sheriffs Department and enjoyed spending time floating Powell River and riding his Harley with his buddies. He was preceded in death by his mamaw who raised him, Emma "Mattie" Hughes, father Charlie Hughes, mother Nella Goins, father-in-law Gary Huff, Sr. and mother-in-law Sue Huff. Surviving is his wife, Jeny Hughes, son, Chastin Huff, daughters, Courtney Hughes, Tabitha Hughes, and Misty Laningham. Grandkids, Caitlyn (Raekwon) Mitchell, Michael Snodgrass, Payton Hamilton, and Primrose "Little Kisses" Dean. Great-grandkids Oakland Mitchell, and Senorah Mitchell. Brothers, Jimmy Hughes and Kris Goins, sister, Missy Huffman, and several nieces and nephews. Special brothers "Bub" Reynard Peters and Billy Byington. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 5, from 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm at Leeman Field "RV Welcome Center" pavilion, attendees are encouraged to "rock" their band tees and flannels.
