Dail Roger Penley, age 84 of Pennington Gap, VA was born in Lee County on Monday, June 20, 1932 and passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Mountain View Regional Hospital in Norton, VA. He had worked and retired from Myers Lumber Co. and was a member of Belchers Chapel Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart.. He loved playing the guitar and loved singing. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved to go fishing. He was also a foster parent for many years of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Effie Penley; brothers Buddy Hurd, Ray Hurd, Kyle Hurd and sister Ruby Lambert. He is survived by his wife Rebecca Penley of the home; son Randy Penley and wife Sharon of Jonesville, VA; son Wesley Penley of the home; daughter Kim Robinson and husband Donald of Woodway, VA; daughter Theresa Vanhuss and husband Darrell of Pennington Gap, VA; daughter Jennifer Penley of Bristol, TN and daughter Paige Penley of Pennington Gap, VA; also five grandchildren, Derek Robinson of Woodway, VA, Whitney Robinson of Pennington Gap, VA; Makaila Penley of Jonesville, VA, Austin Stapleton of Jonesville, VA and Rhylee Jennings of Pennington Gap, VA; also four great-grandchildren; one brother, George Penley Jr. of Jonesville, VA and a special friend, Stan Lewis, who was like a son to him. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2017 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Stan Lewis and George Penley Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until time of services Monday. Military gravesuide services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Family and fiends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday to go to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
