Dahlia Bowens, 89 of the Sandlick Community of St. Charles, VA passed on Sunday, December 18, 2016. Dahlia was a ray of sunshine to everyone. She had a very large heart with lots of love and shared it with all over her lifetime. She enjoyed life, was an avid doll collector, loved to yard sale with her family and friends, feed her pet squirrels and most of all visit everyone. Dahlia is preceded in death by her parents Jimmy and Emma Bowens. Her brother Arthur Bowens, Rufus Bowens and Elmer Bowens. Her sisters Ina Gibson, Stella Herron, Mary Carroll and Kitty Barnette. Her special nephew James Gibson and wife Lorene. She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews and many friends she met throughout life. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of PACE in Big Stone Gap, VA the home health staff of MEOC and all the staff at Lee Nursing and Rehab Center in Pennington Gap, VA for all the special care and love they showed to Dahlia over the last several years. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM Tuesday for the service.
