Connie Petrey age 69 of Pennington Gap, VA was born in the Belgium Hollow Community of Pennington Gap on Thursday, July 4, 1946 and passed away at her home on Thursday, August 6, 2015. She had been a loving and caring wife for 41 years and mother for 53 years. After raising her children Connie went back to school and got her GED. She then attended college and became a nurse. She worked at Holston Valley Medical Center for 12 years on the cancer floor at which time she retired to take care of her mother. She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad (Con) Petrey, mother and father Carrie and Tom Cooper and one sister Judy Cooper. Connie is survived by two daughters Tammy Cooper and husband, Rick and Debra Tanner and husband, Paul, one son Conrad Rondal Petrey, Jr. and wife, Maletha, four grandsons Cory Cooper, David Petrey, Carl Tanner and Scott Tanner, one granddaughter Sylvia Cooper, one great-grandson Conner Mullins and one great-granddaughter Haiden Woods. She is also survived by three brothers Thomas Cooper Jr., Eddie Joe Cooper and John Benfield and two sisters Betty Scott and Joyce Cooper. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Lee Memorial Gardens with Rev. Roy Webb officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 PM Sunday to go to the cemetery.
