Charles Elbert Thompson

Charles Elbert Thompson was born (or fell out of the Christmas tree, as his mom, Rosie, would say) on Sunday, December 22, 1935. He was born to the late Rosie Thompson Ledford and the late Elbert Thompson.

Charles was proceeded in death by his parents, his grandson Benjamin Andrew Thompson, sister Faye Inman Barth and brothers Bill and Kenneth Thompson.

He leaves behind his beautiful and loving wife of 70 years, Nancy Joseph Thompson, six children, Charlie (Susan), Bobby, Roger (Gail), Reba, George (Linda), and Heather (Jeff) Thompson Osborne, 24 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, sister Jean Carmody, special friends Wesley and Tiffany Parsons, many nieces and nephews and many beloved friends.

He was a devoted family man, a retired coal miner, and a true servant God for many years. He loved sharing his faith with others. He was a deacon and faithful member of the Valley View Primitive Baptist Church.

A private service will be held for the family and he will be laid to rest at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, Virginia.

Charles Elbert Thompson and his family are in the care of Pennington Gap Funeral Home.
