February 5, 1943 – February 26, 2024
Charles "Chuck" W. Sarver was born on February 5, 1943 to Ray and Gladys Sarver. He joined his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson's. Chuck was a Veteran of the United States Army. During his service he toured Germany and many different areas of the U.S.A. Later he served as a Lee County Deputy, then worked as a tool and die maker. Chuck loved his family, his country, but most of all he loved his salvation. He was a member of the Smyth Chapel Community Church. Due to Parkinson his voice became weak over the years making it hard to speak but when he started talking about his Lord his voice became strong and words flowed easily. He loved to watch most all sports, but his favorite was baseball, he loved sitting on the porch during the summer with his sister in law Wanda Elliott, and he loved fishing.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Gladys; wife, Sevline Sarver; brother, Billy Sarver; sisters, Bobbie Jo Garrett and Jimmey Lou Ingle; and one step son, Tim Dye.
Chuck is survived by one sister, Betty Ann Collins of Auburn, Indiana; son, Bryan Sarver and wife Donna of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Dawn Bizzell of Cleveland, Ohio; step daughter, Cathy Hensley and husband Darrell of Jonesville, Virginia; grandchildren, Miranda and little Bryan Sarver, Ryan Hensley, Jason Dye, Cameron Black, and Sara Black; great grandson, Rowan Snyder; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; special niece and nephew and caregivers, Phyllis and Chuck Shackleford.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. a funeral service will follow with Pastor Darrell Hensley and Chuck Shackleford officiating.
A Military committal service will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens with Wise County Veterans Organization, VFW Post 5715 and 8652 American Legions and Virginia National Guard providing military honors. Bryan Sarver, Ryan Hensley, Chuck Shackelford, Larry Elliott, Randy Ridings, and Danielle Shackelford serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Lee County Gideons in Chuck's memory.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the ones who have cared for Charles through the years. A very special thank you to Sheila Dingus, Mountain Home VAMC, MEOC, Crystal Blankenship, Carolyn Shepard, and Pennington EMS.
