Carolyn Jane Jerrell age 75 was born on July 9, 1948. She received her new Heavenly body on Sunday, August 27, 2023.

She grew up in Jonesville surrounded by numerous cousins and friends whom she loved dearly. She was a graduate of Flatwoods High School and received her B.A. at Lincoln Memorial University and her Masters at Radford College. She taught in Lee County Schools for 30 years. She was a lifetime member of Thompson Settlement Baptist Church where she served as clerk and secretary for many years.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer P. and Josephine (Carter) Jerrell; maternal grandparents, George and Lucretia Smith Carter; paternal grandparents, Roy and Hallie Jarnigan Jerrell.

Left behind are her very special church family and several cousins on both sides of the family (Jerrell and Carter). A special thank you for the loving and devoted care provided by her cousin Jeanie Allen and Amber Kern whom she claimed as her daughter, HV Radiology Department, and her beloved cat Little Bits.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Powell Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Bro. Ronnie Owens officiating and special music provided by Leigh Ann Surber.

A committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway beside her Mom and Dad with Pastor Paul Davis Jr. officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:00 AM to go in procession. Pallbearers are Danny Allen, Charlie Carter, Justin Allen, John Carter, Jeffery Holt, and David Wayne Jerrell.

In lieu of flowers you can give to Thompson Settlement Baptist Church Children's Fund or the charity of your choice that takes care of Children such as St. Jude's or Shriners.
