Carl Gleaves Ely, 84. of Jonesville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Lee Health and Rehab.

Carl was born on March 3, 1941 in Lee County, Virginia to the late J.G.S. Ely and Ruby Newman Ely. Carl was a farmer for his whole life, loved to take care of the farm, and run his Mustang 5.0's. He was a member of Thompson Settlement Baptist Church. He loved his family and friends. Carl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, J.R. Ely; brother, Wayne Ely; and nephews, John, T.J., and Junior Ely.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Gilda Faye Robbins Ely; Paula Miksa and husband Ron; grandchildren, Dominic DeMaro, Willow Miksa and Wren Miksa; brother, Tom Ely and wife Betty; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00AM to 1:00PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

A committal service will follow at Ely Cemetery in Jonesville, Virginia with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
