Carl Douglas Ely age 71 of Rose Hill, VA was born Wednesday, October 4, 1943 in Jonesville, VA and passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. He had been a Veteran of the United States Army serving his time in Germany and was of the Methodist by faith. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Eunis Ely and one sister Frances Beartice Ely. Mr. Ely is survived by two brothers Oscar and Don Ely both of Rose Hill, VA and one sister Charlotte Ely of Greene Belt, MD. He also leaves behind two nephews John Carly Kelly of Silver Spring, MD and Joseph Kelly of Crofton, MD. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Saturday, May 16, 2015 until time of service. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with the burial to follow at the Ely cemetery on Beech Springs Road in Jonesville, VA. Military honors will be provided by the local VFW Post #5715 and the Virgina National Guard Honors Team. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
