Billy Lynn Richards, age 82 of Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Lee County, VA was born in Knoxville, TN on Saturday, December 2, 1933 and passed away at his home in Indianapolis, IN on Sunday, November 20, 2016, surrounded by his family. He worked for National Starch and Chemical Company for 34 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and the Masonic Lodge. He had attended the United Methodist Church of Pennington Gap, VA. He was preceded in death by his grandsons William Joseph Lynn Richards Gray, parents W.J. and Ida Richards. Billy is survived by his wife Shirley McElyea Richards, one son Michael Richards and wife, Shawn, two daughters Cheryl Lynn Mauritz and Beverly Ann Cranfill all of Indianapolis, IN. Billy is also survived by seven grandchildren Krysti, Billy, Matt, Morgan, William, Allen, David and Kaitlynn, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one adopted sister Pat Sarver of Pennington Gap, VA and his special furry friend Princess. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Rev. Bruce Catron officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Tuesday until the time of the graveside service at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA.
