Ben Kirk, age 93 of Jonesville, VA was born in the Elys Creek Community of Pennington Gap, VA on Saturday, March 1st, 1924 and passed away on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018 at Hancock Manor in Sneedville, TN. He had worked for many years at the coal mines as a truck driver and then worked at the Stone Creek Esso Station for 21 1/2 years. He was also a member of the Admant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Hobart and Vinia Kirk, two sisters Ollie Corbin, Gladys Thompson and a half brother Ed Doss. Ben is survived by his wife of 64 years Ola 'Christine' Kirk of the home, one son Darrell Kirk and wife, Sandra of Jonesville, VA, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA with Stan Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Friday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Saturday to go to the cemetery.
