"Beardy" Dennis Sweeney age 65 of St. Charles, VA was born Friday, December 14, 1951 in Pennington Gap, VA and passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Harlan ARH in Harlan, KY. He was of the Baptist Belief and enjoyed horseback riding and loved to sit and talk at Hardees with his friends. He retired from Russell Sawmill and had been a truck driver. He was preceded in death by one son Dennis Wayne Sweeney, a grandson Colby Ray Foster, his parents Johnson and Birdie Sweeney, four brothers Gene Mullins, Earl (Duke) Mullins, Bill Mullins and Harold Mullins. "Beardy is survived by his wife Sonda Sweeney of the home, a son Mark Lynn Sweeney of Jonesville, VA, daughters Amanda Foster of Jonesville, VA and Parise Parsons of St. Charles, VA, grandchildren Kristan Foster, Timmy Shane Sweeney and Kaylina Ray Foster and one great-grandchild Abel Miller Foster. He is also survived by a sister Judy Cody and husband, Bill of Jonesville, VA, seven brothers Howard Sweeney and wife, Anita of Garner, NC, Danny (Hog) Sweeney and wife, Angela of Jonesville, VA, Steve (Sheep) Sweeney and wife, Donna of Jonesville, VA, David (Precious) Sweeney and wife, Hope of Jonesville, VA, Jerry Sweeney and wife, Darlene of Pennington Gap, VA, Henry Mullins and wife, Nancy of Jonesville, VA, Tony Mullins and wife, Gail of Jonesville, VA, many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Layne Pennington officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Thursday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the Pennington Memorial Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Friday to go to the cemetery.
