Obituary Arnold David Scott, age 77, of Pennington Gap, VA, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born on March 8, 1945 in Barboursville, KY, and was a lifelong resident of Lee County, VA. He formerly attended St. Charles First Baptist Church. Big Dave was a coal miner for over 31 years. He loved hunting and fishing, and was a master gardener. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Scott, Sr. and Lily; two infant children, Dwayne Scott and Brenda Scott; one brother, Roger Scott; and one sister, Connie Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Scott of the home; sons, David Stapleton of Pennington Gap, VA, and Bucky Kirk and wife, Stacey, of Bogart, GA; brothers, Ernest (Bub) Scott, Jr. and wife, Pauline, Gary Wayne Scott and wife, Sandra, and Roy Scott, all of Pucketts Creek, VA; two sisters, Caroline Mills of Barboursville, KY, and Sue Gibson of Travelers Rest, SC; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Province Pennington Gap Funeral Home, 42098 E Morgan Ave, Pennington Gap, Virginia 24277. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr officiating in the funeral home chapel. A committal service will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lil Dave Scott, Bucky Kirk, Jacob Scott Lawson, Elijah Lucas Stapleton, Tucker Kirk, and Aidan Kirk.
