Obituary Anthony Wayne Ely, 62, was born in Wise County, VA on August 29, 1958. He passed away on May 3, 2021. He resided on Old Woodway Road for the past 15 years, but was originally from Pucketts Creek. Anthony retired from V.F.P. after 15 years of employment, had worked at Norris Industries for 18 years and held many other jobs since beginning work at the age of 18. Anthony was raised in the Pentecostal Faith. He struggled with many issues during his life but proudly overcame them in later years. He felt richly rewarded with a loving family who came together to support and care for him during his illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents John Merlin and Gertrude Ely, his grandparents Daniel and Daisy Cooper Ely, and Sam and Nora Jones Chestnut; his nephew Sam Ely, niece Ginae Blankenship and brother-in-law Joseph Napier. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years Mildred Napier Ely, his son Adam Dwayne Ely, his daughters Natasha Nicole Ely and Tiffany Shepherd; his grandchildren RaChone, Brandon, and KayLynne, his brothers and sisters Myra Blankenship and husband James, Noreen Ely and Mouse Smith, Phillip Ely, David Ely and wife Joella, and Tammy Ely; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; his best friend Tracy Rhoton and special aunt Shirley McKinney. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Friday with Shawn Allen and David Ely officiating. Burial will follow at Bledsoe Cemetery in Middle Wallens Creek.
