Anna Lou Napier, affectionately known as Ann, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, at the age of 100.
Born on February 15, 1926, she lived a long and purposeful life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and her community. She was of the Baptist faith.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie and Wilson Garrett; her husband, Tunis Napier; her daughter and son-in-law, Moleetha and Bruce Fleenor; her great-granddaughter, Jessica Druin; and her daughter-in-law, Norma Napier.
She is survived by her children: Tom (Bonnie), John, Doug (Debbie), Scott (Robin), and Tracy (Tim). She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Susie, Mike, Jennifer, Jaime, Michael, Crystal, Kelly, Jonathan, Caleb, Mark, C.D., Brandon, Schyler, and TJ; her great-grandchildren: Jennifer, Amanda, Delaney, Cassidy, Ethan, Isaac, Elijah, Katelyn, Thor, Kambrie, Ellison, Caden, Carli and Calie; and her great-great-grandchildren: Briar, Lilly, McKinley, Carsyn, Logan, and Mason.
In addition to her family, she is survived by special friends, Valerie Smith and Lena Haight, who held a dear place in her life.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Lee Health and Rehabilitation for their compassionate care, and a special acknowledgment to Debbie Calhoun, her devoted roommate, for her kindness and companionship.
Ann was a hardworking and respected businesswoman who worked in and later owned several convenience stores, faithfully serving the coal miners and truck drivers of the region. Following her retirement, she continued her service to others as a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Lee County Community Hospital, where she volunteered more than 20,000 hours over the course of her lifetime.
Visitation will be held on March 31 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Pennington Gap Funeral Home, with graveside services to follow at Lee Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Paul Davis and Eddy Hood.
Ann will be remembered for her steadfast faith, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her life was a testament to service, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
