Wayne Maurice "Dirt"/"Mad Dog" Maddux, age 63, of Pennington Gap, passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024 after a illness with his family by his side. He was born February 10, 1961 a son of the late Coach Cecil Maddux and Lexie DeMoisey Maddux in Norton VA. He was a maintenance man for the railroad and for the last few years worked around the Cedar Hill Country Club. He was a 1979 graduate of Powell Valley High School and maintained his loyalty with the Union Bears.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister: Juannie Dean Maddux

He is survived by 2 daughters: Crystal Maddux Mosier (Brandon) of Big Stone and Kate Maddux of New York. A son: Travis Maddux of Big Stone. His mother: Lexie DeMoisey Maddux of Pennington Gap. 1 brother: Randy Holyfield (Lin) of Orange Park, FL and a sister: Litzie Bishop (Josh) of Pennington Gap. 3 grandchildren: Sydney and Camden Maddux and Riley Mosier

Special Nephew: Tanner "Tan-Man" Bishop and special niece: Tabitha Woodard who were always there for him. Special friends whom he considered family: Tim Thomas and Daphne Thomas. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family along with a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services will be Wednesday evening, April 3rd, 2024 at 7PM in the chapel of the Pennington Gap Funeral Home with Pastor Ira Clark officiating. The family will receive friends preceding the service from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Graveside committal services will be Thursday Morning, April 4, 2024 at 11 AM in the Bishop Family Cemetery, 258 Little Tree Drive, Pennington Gap with friends and family serving as pallbearers. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home by 10:20 AM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
